Ridesharing Licence - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to operate a ride-share vehicle. Ride-share vehicles provide transport services to passengers through approved communications and dispatch services via smartphone application-based booking. Only approved drivers using approved vehicles are authorised to provide ridesharing services.

Applicants have the choice to apply as a driver only, as the owner of a rideshare vehicle, or both. Ridesharing operators must comply with the Ridesharing In-Service Vehicle Maintenance Standards.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • hold an NT driver licence with 'H' endorsement
  • hold Commercial Passenger Vehicle Operator Accreditation
  • hold a current Commercial Passenger Vehicle ID Card with rideshare endorsement
  • be able to read and write in English
  • have a current National Police Certificate issued by SAFE NT, dated within three months
  • have a current medical assessment completed by a medical practitioner, dated within six months
  • have an ABN
  • own a vehicle that is not older than 9 years of age.

1. Applicants must prepare:

  • passport and work visa (if a non-australian citizen or permanent resident)
  • NT open driver licence details
  • scanned copies of National Police Certificate and medical assessment
  • ABN

2. Applicants must pass the online hire and reward knowledge test.

3. Applicants must fill in and submit their application for a licence to drive a commercial passenger vehicle.

Allow up to 10 working days for your application to be processed.
