Ridesharing Licences - Northern Territory


You will need this licence if you intend to operate a ride-share vehicle to provide a transport service offered to passengers through an approved communications and dispatch service, specifically through a smartphone application-based booking.

A rideshare vehicle is used to carry passengers with the services of a driver for a fare which is calculated through a smartphone.

Applicants have the choice to apply as a driver only, as the owner of a rideshare vehicle, or both.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must have:

  • a current NT driver's licence
  • a 'h' endorsement on your NT driver's licence 
  • a current NT Community Passenger Vehicle identity card endorsed for rideshare
  • a vehicle that is not older than 9 years of age.
