Spanish Mackerel Fishery Licence - Northern Territory

Description

You will be required to apply for a spanish mackerel fishery licence, if you intend to commercially fish for spanish mackerel in the Northern Territory.

This fishery has 15 licences, but they are all currently allocated and no new licences will be issued.

However, an existing licence may be purchased from other licensees, but are subject to a two for one transfer arrangement (eg applicants must buy two existing unrestricted licences, surrender both to Fisheries and be issued a fully transferable licence).

Once a licence has been through the two for one process, a one for one transfer situation will apply.

Any licence number within the 5000 series has already completed the two for one arrangement and these licence holders may temporarily transfer (lease) or permanently transfer (sell) their licence on receiving the Director's approval. Stamp duty must be paid on the sale before the Director will approve the transfer.
