Temporary Firearms Permit - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this permit if you have specific reasons to temporarily use a firearm in the Northern Territory.

Where the person seeking the permit is an international visitor involved in either competition shooting or safari hunting purposes, they should apply for an international visitors permit.

Eligibility requirements

If you are a natural person (not a business or company), you must:

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • provide proof you are a resident of the Northern Territory
  • provide proof of identity
  • not be subject to any Domestic Violence Orders in the last 5 years
  • have undertaken an approved fire arm safety course
  • meet safe storage requirements
  • have a genuine reason for holding a licence.

If you are a business or company, you must:

  • provide proof that your business or company is a Northern Territory registered business or an Australian Registered Company
  • provide details of the owners or directors of your company
  • be able to meet safe storage requirements
  • have a genuine need or reason for holding a licence.
