You will need this licence if you intend to sell tobacco or tobacco products. A tobacco product is a product where the main ingredient is tobacco, that is used or is intended to be used for human consumption by smoking or chewing. This includes tobacco, cigarettes and cigars.
E-cigarettes and e-cigarette accessories or any other accessory prescribed in the Regulations are treated as tobacco products.
Tobacco retailers in the Northern Territory must display both of the following signs:
- a tobacco health warning
- a notice prohibiting selling or supplying tobacco to children.
You will receive free signs after you apply or renew your tobacco licence. You can also phone the Tobacco Hotline in 1800 888 564 to request free signs.
