Tourist Vehicle Licence - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to operate a tourist vehicle for hire or reward. Tourist vehicles are generally four-wheel-drive vehicles or motorcycles used for pre-arranged tours. There are three tourist vehicle classifications:

  • TV1: carries up to 9 passengers
  • TV2: carries 10 or more passengers
  • TV: a motorcycle, including trike configuration.

Tours within a municipality will require separate approval. Tourist vehicle operators must comply with the Tourist Vehicles In-Service Vehicle Maintenance Standards.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence, you must:

  • hold an NT driver licence with 'H' endorsement
  • hold Commercial Passenger Vehicle Operator Accreditation
  • have your tourist vehicle(s) checked and approved by an MVR Transport Inspector.
