Additional information

Most sea cucumbers are collected along the Arnhem Land coast, mainly around the Cobourg Peninsula and Groote Eylandt.

Sea cucumbers are harvested by hand, either by foot or whilst diving, usually on neap tides during the dry season when the water becomes clearer.

Sandfish are the most common species of sea cucumber taken.
