Unrestricted Electrical Mechanic Licence - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to undertake or supervise the following electrical work:

  • installing or changing an electrical installation or electric line
  • maintaining and repairing electrical equipment and connecting electrical equipment to a source of electricity.

Eligibility requirements

If you trained in Australia, you must have:

  • completed an apprenticeship under the Training and Skills Development Act 2016
  • obtained, during that apprenticeship, at least 12 months experience in the trade work of an electrical mechanic
  • successfully completed a Certificate III in Electro-technology Electrician, or another approved course for electrical mechanic apprentices.

If you trained outside Australia, you must have: 

  • successfully completed a course, relevant to the Australian context, at a training organisation accredited in the place outside of Australia 
  • obtained, during that training, at least 12 months experience in the trade work of an electrical mechanic
  • been assessed by Trades Recognition Australia and issued with an Offshore Technical Skills Record in the class of 34111 Electrician (General).
