You need to be registered to practise as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health practitioner. Registered Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health practitioners provide culturally safe, clinical care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities and, depending on their qualifications and experience, may use the protected titles:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island health practitioner
- Aboriginal health practitioner
- Torres Strait Islander health practitioner.
There are three different types of registration offered to practitioners:
- general
- non-practising
- student.
