Application for Brothel Licence - Queensland


Holding a brothel licence authorises you, as the holder, to operate a brothel at the premises stated in your licence, subject to the Sustainable Planning Act 2009.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

As an applicant you must not be ineligible in terms of Sections 8 and 16 of the Prostitution Act 1999. You must also be a suitable person to operate a licensed brothel, in accordance with Section 17 of the Act.


This licence will remain in effect for three years.

Application process

Submit a completed application form and required fees to the Office of the Prostitution Licensing Authority (PLA).

The application kit, which includes application forms and a guide booklet, is available by contacting the authority, or from their website.

As an applicant for a Brothel licence you are subject to extensive vetting and you should expect that the process will take some time to complete.

You cannot transfer this licence.
