Application for Film Production Licence (Gold Coast City Council) - Queensland


City of Gold Coast regulates filming and photography to ensure the activity proceeds in a safe manner and with minimal disruption to local businesses and residents.

Our Licensing and Approvals team provides a 'one stop shop' for film production companies wishing to film in the city. We liaise with stakeholders to facilitate filming requests and to provide an efficient and timely service. Types of filming requiring a permit include television commercials, feature films, travel shows, still photography and student filming.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements


The applicant is required to enclose a copy of their public liability insurance/certificate of currency. The Gold Coast City Council must be noted as an interested party on the policy. The sum insured is to be a minimum of $10,000,000.00.Please Note: Until such time public liability insurance has been received, applications are unable to be processed.


This licence remains in effect for the period specified on the application form.


To ensure prompt processing please enclose the correct fee or bond if required with the application.

Application process

This licence can be obtained by submitting a completed "Application for Film Production Licence" to the Chief Executive Officer.


You cannot transfer this licence.
