Approval of Premises as an Approved Inspection Station - Queensland

Description

You require this approval for mechanical workshops to issue safety certificates or certificates of inspection on second hand vehicles.  A motor vehicle which is owned by the individual/company may also be approved as a mobile AIS motor vehicle attached to the fixed premises.

Eligibility requirements


Your proposed AIS must nominate at least one approved examiner and one nominee.  This can be the same person.  The applicant must have suitable premises and equipment.

Duration

This approval will remain in effect for 12 months.

Application process

You can obtain this approval by completing an "Application for Approval of Premises as Approved Inspection Station" (Form No. F2272) and submitting it to your nearest customer service centre, the location of which can be obtained by calling department's call centre.

You must ensure that you have at least one approved examiner. Your site and mobile unit will be inspected by departmental officers. You, as the proprietor, must sit and pass an examination (exceptions apply).

All nominees, directors/or proprietors must pay for a criminal history check, the results of which must be returned before approval can be granted.

Transfer process

This licence cannot be transferred.
