You are required to obtain this approval when using premises as veterinary premises.

Eligibility requirements


Prior to making application, you must have perused the Board's Minimum Standards of Veterinary Premises.

You must also confirm whether local council approval for establishment of business is required and seek Department of Health approval for use and possession of radiology equipment.

Duration

The approval remains current as long as the premises meet the required standards and your approval is not suspended or cancelled.

Application process

You can obtain approval by submitting a completed application to the Board. You will need to include the following documents with your application:

  • detailed floor plan of premises
  • Radiology licences.

Copies of the application can be obtained from the Board's head office or from the Veterinary Surgeons Board's website.

If you are not a veterinary surgeon and you are sole owner of the premises, or you are intending to use the premises as hospital or centre, an inspection of the premises must be undertaken by the Board. If the practice is sold and the minimum standards are being met, the premises remain approved while they exist at that address.

Transfer process

This approval can be transferred. You must provide to the Board a statement confirming that the premises meet the required standards. Contact the Board for further information.

Additional information

Approval for hospitals and centres is subject to the Board's inspection.

Approval for other veterinary premises may also be subject to the Board's inspection of premises (if considered necessary).
