Description

You require this accreditation to examine second hand motor vehicles for the issuing of safety certificates and certificates of inspection.

Duration

Accreditation is approved for a period of up to 3 years, however factors such as compliance history and criminal history can result in a one year accreditation (or refusal). An accreditation can also be amended, suspended or cancelled through the courts, or by the Chief Executive, as an outcome of show cause proceedings.

Application process

You can obtain this licence by completing an Approved Examiner Application (F2339) and submitting it with the payment for the relevant fees at a customer service centre. For information on the location of your nearest customer service centre, please contact the call centre.

You must submit copies of your driver licence and qualifications and any other supporting documents with your application.

After the department has received your application and appropriate fees, your criminal history check results will be assessed. If the check returns positive results, these will be assessed against the department's Suitable Person Policy.

Transfer process

This accreditation cannot be transferred.
