Private health facility licence - Queensland


You will need this licence if you intend to operate a private health facility (e.g. private hospitals and day procedure centres).

Private health facilities are places where patients are:

  • provided with medical, surgical or other prescribed treatment and then discharged
  • provided with prescribed services or treatments.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible you must:

  • be a suitable person
  • ensure the private health facility and the health services provided at the facility, comply with the relevant standards.
