Approval for commercial filming / photography - Gold Coast City Council - Queensland

Description

You will need this approval if you intend to undertake commercial filming or photography on council land, including:

  • feature films
  • television commercials
  • travel shows
  • still photography shots.

Your local council is required to monitor the standards of film production on council property. They may inspect the set before, during and after film production depending on the type of activity being conducted and its level of compliance.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval, you must hold adequate public liability insurance as determined by your council or local authority.

Depending on the complexity of the shoot, a site plan may be required for each intended film location showing:

  • the location of filming
  • unit base, essentials, set
  • any equipment
  • activity that may impact the public.

You may be required to submit a Traffic Management Plan if you need to close a road or footpath. You may also be required to notify any residents or businesses that may be affected by filming activities.
