Approval of Premises as an Approved Inspection Station - Queensland

Description

You require this approval for a premise to be used as a fixed Approved Inspection Station (AIS) before you can issue safety certificates or certificates of inspection on second hand vehicles. A vehicles which is owned by the individual/company may also be approved by the department as a mobile AIS. An AIS approval for a mobile AIS can only be granted if the AIS approval holder has an existing fixed AIS premises.

Eligibility requirements

Your proposed AIS must have at least one approved examiner and one AIS approval holder and/or nominee. This can be the same person. The applicant must have suitable premises and equipment.Refer to the Business Rules for Approved Inspection Stations for further information about requirements.

Duration

This approval will remain in effect for 12 months.

Application process

You can obtain this approval by completing an approved inspection station application (form F2272) and submitting it to your nearest transport and motoring customer service centre or call 13 23 80 for your nearest location.

You must ensure that you have at least one approved examiner associated with your AIS. Your fixed AIS and mobile AIS will be audited by department officers.

All nominees, directors/AIS approval holders must pay for a criminal history check to be undertaken by the department. If the check returns positive results, these will be assessed against the department's Suitable Person Policy.

Transfer process

This licence cannot be transferred.
