Approval to conduct a temporary entertainment event - Cook Shire Council - Queensland

Description

You will need this approval to conduct a temporary entertainment event which is open to the public. A temporary entertainment event may include any of the following:

  • concerts
  • live performances
  • circuses
  • special events (e.g. fairs, fetes or functions)
  • sport and recreational events or competitions
  • markets (including market stalls)
  • amusement rides
  • conferences
  • weddings.

You will also need approval if alcohol will be consumed on council land as part of your event. This is also known as a wet area approval.

Licence

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

You may be required to submit a site plan, a noise management plan and an event management plan with your temporary entertainment event application.

You may also be required to hold the following certificates before an approval for a temporary entertainment event can be issued:

  • Queensland Fire and Rescue Service endorsement of evacuation plan
  • Workplace Health and Safety certification for amusement rides
  • electricians certificate for generator enhanced power supply
  • public liability insurance certificate.

Your council may also place certain conditions on your approval, such as:

  • displaying the approval at the specified locations and in the appropriate manner
  • producing the approval for inspection by an authorised person on demand
  • making facilities installed under the approval available for use by the public at specified times or other specified periods
  • taking precautions to protect the safety of persons who enter the land subject to the approval
  • providing proper maintenance of equipment and facilities.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

Your event will be monitored to ensure you are complying with your approval conditions. If your event includes live bands or amplified music, they may also conduct noise monitoring.
