Asbestos assessor licence - Queensland

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to carry out certain functions connected with 'class A' asbestos removal work. These are:

  • air monitoring
  • clearance inspections
  • issuing a clearance certificate.

The licence will be subject to conditions that are imposed to ensure that all licensed asbestos assessors maintain an appropriate level of transparency in their operations and are aware they may be monitored by WHSQ to ensure asbestos assessor activities are being carried out safely and competently.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence, you must:

  • demonstrate through training or experience the knowledge and skills of the relevant asbestos removal industry practice
  • have undertaken the VET course for asbestos assessor work or a tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety or industrial hygiene or science or building construction or environmental health.

Approval time

Approval can take up to 120 days. If there is no decision within this time frame, the application is taken to be refused.
