Authorisation of explosives - Queensland

Description

You will need this authorisation if you are a manufacturer or importer of explosives and posses unauthorised explosives. Unauthorised explosives are explosives that have not been previously authorised for use. Unauthorised explosives are not to be handled unless they are authorised.

You may require this authorisation for:

  • authorisation of an explosive
  • amendment of an authorised explosive 
  • trial of an unauthorised explosive
  • extension of trial of an unauthorised explosive

This authorisation does not allow the import, transport, manufacture, storage, supply or use of any explosive without first obtaining the relevant licence or permit.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

This authorisation will only be granted if the explosive:

  • has or could have a legitimate use in Queensland
  • can be made available or tested for such use
  • can be, with appropriate safeguards, safely handled.

Duration

Explosives authorisations have no expiry date.
