Brothel licence - Queensland

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to operate a brothel. This licence will allow you to register the premises for the intention of using it as a place of prostitution but does not permit escort services. In addition to this licence, you will also need to gain development approval from your local government authority for the premises to be used as a brothel.

Please note that only address stated in the licence is allowed to be used as a brothel.

Any service that includes outcalls or would occur offsite are not covered under this licence.

Eligibility requirements

You will not be eligible for this licence if you:

  • are a corporation or under 18 years of age
  • are insolvent under administration
  • hold a licence or permit under the Liquor Act 1992
  • have been convicted of a disqualifying offence under the Act
  • have had a licence or other authority to provide prostitution at a brothel cancelled in the last three years
  • have had a certificate or other authority to manage a brothel cancelled in the last three years.

Applicants should be advised that the application process for this licence is very intensive and intrusive. For instance, you will be asked about any convictions for a criminal offence, for details of any company in which you have a controlling interest, details of any international travel over the previous five years, your employment history, details of any prior involvement in the sex industry, details of any associates, and financial details (including your assets and liabilities).
