Busker / street performer permit - Redland City Council - Queensland

Description

You will need this permit to busk or provide entertainment in a public place for money or other type of reward. Busking is regulated to ensure it does not unreasonably impact upon residents and businesses.

Examples of activities which commonly require this permit include:

  • singing or playing a musical instrument
  • juggling
  • dancing
  • magic
  • puppetry
  • miming
  • living statue acts.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

You will need to take out public liability insurance to a minimum value of $10 million and name your local council as an interested party. A copy of this document must be submitted before your application is given approval.

To carry out busking activities you must ensure that you do not:

  • cause damage to any council property
  • unreasonably interfere with residential amenity
  • unreasonably interfere with the interests of commercial operators in the vicinity of the busking activity.

Some instruments may be prohibited under council local law.
