Care services licence - Queensland

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to deliver child protection placement services, including:

  • residential care
  • therapeutic residential care
  • supported independent living
  • safe house
  • foster and kinship care
  • intensive foster care.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To apply for a care service licence an organisation must be:

  • incorporated
  • delivering child protection placement services funded by the agency (i.e., the organisation currently provides placements to children or young people who are in the custody or guardianship of the agency).
  • deemed to be in-scope of licensing
  • certified under the Human Services Quality Framework for the delivery of child protection placement services.

When these criteria have been met, the agency will invite the organisation to apply for a care service licence.

The licensing process starts once an organisation is delivering care services, is deemed to be in scope for licensing and has been certified for the provision of child protection placement services under the Human Services Quality Framework.
