The Minister may cause investigations to be undertaken to satisfy the Governor in Council or themselves that anyone associated with the ownership, management or operation of a proposed or licensed Queensland casino is of good repute, financially viable and doesn't have any adverse business associations, and other matters.
'Associated Person' includes, but is not limited to:
- office holders (e.g. directors, secretaries)
- members of the executive leadership team (e.g. the CEO)
- anyone acquiring controlling interests (e.g. shareholdings, interests in a trust)
in the casino licensee, casino operator or any holding company of the casino licensee or casino operator, including any interposed subsidiaries of any holding company.
'Person' includes any body corporate, association, firm, business or partnership as well as a natural person.
Please note, the definition of associated person is provided merely as a guide to identify anyone who would likely be determined to be associated with the ownership, management or operation of a proposed or licensed Queensland casino and accordingly be subjected to an investigation. The findings of such an investigation are considered by the Minister or Governor in Council to determine suitability of an associated person and, where required, form the basis of any related approval.
