Certificate of competence - Queensland

Description

You will need a certificate of competence if you intend to perform certain functions at a coal mine site. The following positions will require you to hold a certificate of competence:

  • deputy
  • site senior executive
  • open-cut examiner
  • first class mine manager
  • second class mine manager
  • ventilation officer.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

The requirements will vary depending on what position you occupy. To be eligible you must:

  • meet the educational and practical experience standards relevant to the position
  • complete the written and oral examination process with a mark of above 70% (site senior executives do not need to pass the oral exam).
