Clearing permit - Queensland

Description

You will need this permit to carry out operational work that involves the clearing of protected native vegetation on freehold, indigenous or State land. In some cases, you may also need to have developmental approval before clearing land.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Exemptions

There are some activities that are exempt from this permit, such as if the clearing:

  • complies with an accepted development vegetation clearing code for managing weeds or managing encroachment
  • is for fire management
  • is to manage serious risks to people or buildings / infrastructure.

It is advised that you check with the relevant agency whether you need this permit for any proposed native vegetation clearing.

Eligibility requirements

You will need to indicate how the proposed clearing addresses every component of the relevant purpose listed in the Act.

Prior to preparing the application, you should discuss the proposed clearing with a vegetation management officer.
