Your local council may also make other provisions for maintaining proper standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
All suppliers of cats and dogs must microchip each cat and dog before they are sold or given away.
Pet shop businesses may need development approval for the following activities:
- starting a business
- changing the type of activity / business being offered at the property
- re-establishing a business that was abandoned
- carrying out building work
- carrying out plumbing or drainage work.
If you modify, update, or otherwise change the premises, you must prove to the local council that:
- all floors are smooth, free from cracks, crevices, and other defects, covered with a suitable non-slip finish
- ceilings are smooth, rigid, and free from cracks, crevices, and other defects
- the internal surfaces of walls are free from cracks, crevices, and defects
- fixtures, fittings, and appliances are impervious, durable, resistant to corrosion, free from cracks / crevices and capable of being easily cleaned.
