Commercial fisher licence - Queensland

Description

You will need this licence to be in charge of commercial fishing activities. This can either be on your own or on another person's commercial fishing boat.

This licence will allow you to:

  • use equipment to commercially take fish species under fisheries symbols appearing on a primary commercial fishing licence
  • supervise crew members assisting you in those fishing activities.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence, you must be 18 years of age or over and possess the appropriate skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • fisheries laws in Queensland
  • handling practices and reporting requirements relevant to a species of conservation interest
  • transport requirements associated with using a vessel in a commercial capacity
  • relevant food handling and storage requirements
  • how to undertake a commercial fishing operation in a safe, socially acceptable manner.
