Commercial vehicle (Mackay) - Queensland


You will need this permit if you wish to use your vehicle for commercial purposes within the council area - for example, delivery drivers, couriers. This permit will enable you to stand in regulated traffic areas while conducting business.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.


This permit will remain in effect to 30 June each year.

You cannot transfer this permit. If you sell the vehicle, the commercial vehicle permit must be removed from the vehicle.

Should the new owner require a commercial vehicle permit, they must make separate application.

Additional information

A commercial vehicle shall be classified as:

  • any truck or utility built for the carrying of goods; or
  • any vehicle that is permanently sign written (painted) or displays a magnetic or other sticker so as to clearly indicate to council that the vehicle is being used in connection with a commercial business; or
  • any vehicle that has attached to it a commercial vehicle identification label.

Council reserves the right to refuse to recognize a vehicle as a commercial vehicle on the grounds that council does not deem the vehicle in question to be a commercial vehicle.
