Commercial vehicle (Toowoomba) - Queensland


You will need this permit if you wish to use your vehicle for commercial purposes within the council area - for example, delivery drivers, couriers. This permit will enable you to stand in regulated traffic areas while conducting business.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

Conditions required under Subordinate Local Law 5 2011 Part 3 section 8 for the issue of the permit (Please note, if you do not satisfy one of the required criteria no permit can be issued):

  • the vehicle is used primarily, and daily for carrying on a business; and
  • in the carrying on of the business the applicant requires the regular use of loading zones;


  • a horse drawn vehicle constructed, fitted or equipped for the carriage of goods;


  • a motor vehicle (excluding car or motorbike) constructed, fitted or equipped for the carriage of goods;


  • a motor vehicle constructed fitted or equipped for the carriage of persons.


This licence remains in effect for one year.

You cannot transfer this permit. If you sell the vehicle, the commercial vehicle permit must be removed from the vehicle.

If the new owner requires a commercial vehicle permit, they must make separate application.
