Demolition work licence - Queensland


Part 4.6 Division 2 of the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 (the Regulation) requires that a person conducting a business or undertaking that commissions demolition work to be carried out at a workplace must ensure that the demolition work is carried out under a licence to carry out demolition work.

Service type


A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

Satisfy the approved criteria, as stated in Information Paper D1 issued by the regulator.


A certificate is valid for 2 years from the day it is granted unless suspended or cancelled.

Application process

An applicant for a business licence must complete and submit the relevant application form and meet the approved criteria contained in Information Paper D1 for demolition work.

The application and information papers are available from the demolition licence page at the agency website or by contacting the agency.

Transfer process

This licence cannot be transferred.

Additional information

The holder of the business licence is responsible for making sure that the work is supervised by a competent person. Supervisor/s must be nominated on the application form and satisfy the regulator that they meet the approved criteria to perform the duties of a supervisor of demolition work. He or she must meet the requirements contained in Information Paper D2 for demolition work.
