Disability worker screening clearance - Queensland

Description

You will need clearance if you intend to be engaged by a state funded or registered NDIS disability provider. This includes paid workers, volunteers and sole traders. Examples of work that may require this clearance include disability services in the following areas:

  • respite services
  • community support services
  • community access
  • research, training or development services.

If you will be working with children, you will also need a blue card.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this clearance, you must:

  • reside in Queensland and be engaged by a provider to carry out disability work
  • satisfy the Chief Executive that you do not pose a risk of harm to people with a disability.

Duration

State funded disability worker screening clearance - 3 years. NDIS worker screening clearance - 5 years.

Application process

Apply

To apply for this clearance you can complete a physical form and return the completed documents to the department. You can also apply online by completing the following steps:

  1. Register for Worker Portal access
  2. Logon to the Worker Portal
  3. Complete the online identification check
  4. Complete the online application questions
  5. Make payment through BPOINT (online), cheque or money order (or defer payment to your employer or nominated representative).
