A Distribution Authority can be transferred.
Transfer of a Distribution Authority requires approval by the Regulator.
A Distribution Authority can be transferred by submitting an application in writing (there is no prescribed form) giving details of the proposed transfer and the proposed transferee to the Regulator (Director-General, Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy) at the address given in this summary sheet. Information on transfer fees can be obtained in S201A: Application for transfer of the Electricity Act 1994 and Schedule 7: Fees payable to regulator of the Electricity Regulation 2006.
What is required after applying but before transfer is granted?
You can obtain guidelines on the Department's website.
The Regulator must be satisfied that the proposed transferee is suitable to hold the Distribution Authority.
