Exploration permit - Queensland

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to explore for petroleum in Queensland coastal areas. Queensland coastal areas extend three miles from the coastline of Queensland.

A petroleum permit is granted over a defined area called a block. The agency may publish a notice inviting applications for a permit over particular blocks. The maximum number of blocks you are able to apply for is 400.
