Firearms licence (instructor) - Queensland

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to possess and use any category of firearms and weapons required to deliver approved safety course training.

To obtain this licence, you must be an employee or a manager of a registered training organisation and have completed the relevant courses for the type of training you are providing.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, you must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • be an employee or a manager of a registered training organisation
  • reside only in Queensland
  • be a fit and proper person with specific reference to mental state, misuse of drugs and / or firearms and offences involving violence or threatened violence
  • have access to safe and secure weapon storage
  • have completed a Training and Assessment qualification and provide a copy of your certification
  • a copy of a Statement of Attainment certifying completion of the approved safety course for the categories of weapons applied for
  • provide a letter of authority from a registered RTO containing details of the training course you will be providing
  • provide a supporting letter detailing evidence of practical experience in the handling and use of weapons.
