Fuel seller registration - Queensland

Description

You will need to be registered to sell fuel in Queensland.

Liable fuel retailers are required to sell at least the minimum amount of sustainable biobased petrol. A fuel retailer is a liable retailer if they:

  • own or operate 10 or more standard service stations
  • sell more than 500,000 litres of all grades of petrol at any site in a calendar quarter.

This registration enables you to report on and track whether you meet the threshold for liable fuel retailer, which requires you to report quarterly and sell a minimum amount of sustainable fuel.

You will need to register your business information within 1 month of becoming a fuel seller.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

You will need to submit notification within 1 month of any changes to your business information.

All fuel retailers and fuel wholesalers in Queensland must submit an annual report. This includes those that are not required to sell the minimum amount of sustainable biobased petrol or diesel.

Only liable fuel retailers and fuel wholesalers need to report sales volumes on a quarterly basis.

If you are a fuel seller and have not previously submitted fuel sales reports, or accessed the Queensland fuel sellers' portal, email the department to register and receive an invitation. You will need to provide the following:

  • full name
  • entity name
  • ABN
  • contact phone number
  • email address.
