General fisheries permit (brood / culture stock) - Queensland

Description

You need this permit to collect broodstock or culture stock from the wild to use in Queensland aquaculture facilities.

You will need this permit if you are conducting the following activities:

  • collecting regulated species (under minimum or above maximum size limits, or in excess of possession limits)
  • collecting during closed seasons or in closed waters
  • using fishing gear not permitted for recreational fishing.

Eligibility requirements

You must be at least 18 years old to be eligible for this permit.

The permit can be held by either:

  • individual applicants
  • in the name of a company.

In most cases, a permit will only be issued if you already have aquaculture approval.

Other approvals and Native Title notifications may also be required.
