Harvesting licence (protected animals) - Queensland

Description

You require this licence if you intend to harvest live protected animals from the wild. Protected animals are animals that are classed as threatened or near threatened species. The following animals require a harvesting licence:

  • spiders - from Theraphosidae family
  • scorpions - in the genus Uradacus
  • venomous snakes for venom extraction
  • other protected animals.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • be a suitable person to hold a wildlife licence
  • comply with the 'Code of practice - captive reptile and amphibian husbandry' and / or 'Code of practice - aviculture'
  • be the landholder or gain consent from the landholder
  • provide the exact location of where the activities will take place
  • provide specific details of the species you intend to take.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

You must have and keep up to date an approved wildlife record book.
