The Livingstone Shire Planning Scheme 2005 defines a Home-based business as:
An occupation or profession carried out by the residents as a commercial enterprise in, under or otherwise on the same site as a dwelling unit where:
(a) the extent of the business allows for the employment of no more than one (1) equivalent full-time employee who is not a resident on the site; and
(b) the operation of the activity does not exceed any self-assessment solution set out in the Home-based Business Code
Council supports small scale businesses being operated from a residence, where they comply with the Home-based Business Code and meet community expectations for land use within a residential area.
If you are operating, or intending to operate a Home-based business from your residence, a Development Application may be required to be obtained from Council. It is recommended you contact Council's Duty Planner service to ascertain requirements for operating a Home-based business within Livingstone Shire.
