Import permit - Queensland

Description

You will need this permit if you intend to import weapons or ammunition into Queensland.

If you are an international visitor who intends to bring firearms into Queensland, you will also need to apply for a visitor's licence to use the firearms in Queensland.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit, you must:

  • hold the relevant authority, licence or legislated ability to possess the item
  • have a genuine reason for importing the weapon.

Before you import any weapons from overseas, you must ascertain:

  • if you can lawfully import the weapon
  • if you require a licence to possess the weapon in Queensland
  • if a permit to acquire (PTA) is required (a PTA is required for any weapon that requires registration to a Queensland weapons licence).
