Licence to hold a Permanent Identification Device (PID) Registry - Queensland


You require this licence if you wish to offer a Permanent Identification Device (PID) Registry service under the requirements of the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008 and the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Regulations 2009.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.


This licence will remain in effect for 12 months. Licence holders will need to renew their licence every 12 months by completing and submitting a Form 2-Application for renewal of PID registry licence.

Application process

You can obtain this licence by submitting a completed "Application for PID Registry Licence" (Form 1) with the required fee.  The application will be reviewed and assessed by the Department and applicants will be advised of the outcome.

Licence applicants will be assessed on the following criteria:

  • demonstrated capacity to be able to comply with the licence conditions
  • demonstrated ability to develop, administer and maintain a database that effectively captures records, maintains them with associated reporting functions
  • demonstrated ability and capacity to effectively and efficiently re-unite lost animals with owners.

The Department  will review the application and advise of the outcome. Successful applicants will have to meet the licence conditions as advised.

To amend licence details, please complete and submit a Form 3 - Application for amendment of PID registry licence.
