Private health facility approval - Queensland

Description

You will need this approval to build a new private health facility. Private health facilities include private hospitals and day procedure centres.

Private health facilities are places where patients are provided with:

  • medical, surgical or other prescribed treatment and then discharged
  • prescribed services or treatments.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for approval, you must:

  • be a suitable person
  • ensure the proposed facility and health services proposed by the facility comply with the relevant standards. 

Duration

Approvals are valid for two years. An application to extend the term of the approval by a further two years may be made.
