You will need to create movement records when moving livestock between properties in Queensland. Livestock include cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, bison, buffalo, deer, alpacas, camelids, equines, bees and designated birds (for example, birds kept for meat or egg production or other purposes like racing pigeons).
Movement records can include:
- diary or logbook entries
- notepads or exercise books
- emails
- text messages
- excel spreadsheets
- movement record templates (can be used for all animals)
- horse health declarations
- National Vendor Declarations (preferred for selling or moving cattle, sheep and goats)
- PigPass.
The person completing the movement record and the person receiving the animal will need to store a copy of the movement record for the following durations:
- five years for movements of cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, bison, buffalo, alpacas, llamas and horses moving between cattle tick zones
- two years for movements of camels, guanacos, vicunas, horses, donkeys, mules, zebras, designated birds and bees.
