Minor's licence - Queensland

Description

You will need this licence if you are between the ages of 11 and 17 years and have a genuine reason to possess and use rifles, shotguns or pistols (categories A, B, C and H only).

Genuine reasons for a minor's licence include participation in certain sports or target shooting, involvement in primary production or employment on rural land. 

You will need to apply for an adult licence once you turn 18, as your minor’s licence will no longer be valid.

  • be between 11 and 17 years old
  • reside only in Queensland
  • be a fit and proper person with specific reference to mental state, misuse of drugs and / or firearms and offences involving violence or threatened violence
  • have access to safe and secure weapon storage
  • provide the appropriate supporting documents, which will vary based on your genuine reason.
