Model code of practice for the welfare of animals: the camel - Queensland

Description

You may need to comply with this code if you are responsible for the welfare or management of camels. The code aims to achieve humane husbandry throughout all types of camel enterprises. It contains information and guidelines to achieve minimum acceptable standards of animal welfare for camels. It applies to all types of camel enterprises, whether commercial or hobby. The code promotes animal welfare for camels by defining acceptable management practices, and encouraging considerate and efficient treatment and handling of camels.

The code is not a comprehensive manual on how to care for camels and does not provide detailed information on diets or animal health regimes.

Compliance with this code of practice is not mandatory. However, a code of practice is admissible as evidence in a proceeding for an animal welfare offence.
