Model code of practice for the welfare of animals: the farming of deer - Queensland

You may need to comply with this code if you are responsible for the welfare and husbandry of farmed deer. The code promotes agreed animal welfare standards for farmed deer by defining acceptable management practices, and encouraging considerate and efficient treatment and handling of farmed deer in all types of deer farming enterprises.

Compliance with this code of practice is not mandatory. However, by complying with this code you can demonstrate that you have met your legal obligations. Proving that you have complied with this code can be used as a defence against a charge of cruelty or aggravated cruelty to animals.
