You may need to obtain this permit if you intend to undertake movement of protected wildlife that is not otherwise authorised by the legislation or by movement advice. Under this permit you can move:
- live native animals (which are not exempt species) either into or out of Queensland if you move residence or take animals interstate when you go on holidays
- wildlife interstate (including sperm, fertilised eggs or any other reproductive or genetic materials) for export overseas
- special native animals (i.e. koalas, echidna, platypus and wombats)
- dead crocodiles or emus.
If you are importing or exporting wildlife into or out of Queensland, you should also contact the wildlife authority in the other state to ensure that you have the necessary documentation from that state to proceed with the movement.
