National safety and quality health service standards - Queensland

Description

This standard provides guidance to health service providers about the standard of services they should provide.

Health service providers include:

  • registered health practitioners or other individuals who provide a health service
  • an entity, other than an individual, who provides a health service (i.e. a health service organisation).

The primary aims of the standards are to protect the public from harm and to improve the quality of health service provision. They provide a quality assurance mechanism that tests whether relevant systems are in place to ensure that expected standards of safety and quality are met.
