Permit to muster or travel stock in a protected area - Queensland


The Nature Conservation Act 1992 allows for authorised mustering or travelling of stock on some national parks, regional parks, state forest, forest reserve, or other protected areas managed by Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS).

You are required to obtain this permit to move stock on national parks and other protected areas including:

  • mustering your own cattle from the protected area
  • travelling stock from one place to another through a protected area.

Service type


A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.


A permit can be granted for a maximum of:

  •  1 year for mustering
  •  30 days for traveling.

Contact your local QPWS regional office to discuss your proposed activity before you lodge your application.

Transfer process

This permit cannot be transferred.

Additional information

You must be issued with a permit before you can begin your stock movement.

  • Assessment of your permit application can take up to 40 business days.
  • If we need to ask you for more information, it may take an additional 20 business days to process your application.
