Pharmacy business licence - Queensland

Description

You will need this licence if you currently own or intend to own a pharmacy business.

A pharmacy business is one that provides core pharmacy services. A core pharmacy service is:

  • compounding of medicines for sale to members of the public
  • dispensing, by or under the supervision of a practising pharmacist, of medicines to members of the public
  • selling, by or under the supervision of a practising pharmacist, of medicines to members of the public.

Eligibility requirements

To be granted a pharmacy business licence the following criteria must be satisfied:

  • the applicant is an eligible person, a fit and proper person to own a pharmacy business, and does not already hold an interest in the maximum number of pharmacy businesses permitted;
  • the proposed licensed premises for the pharmacy business are authorised premises; and
  • each person who holds a material interest in the pharmacy business is a person who is permitted to hold a material interest and does not already hold an interest in the maximum number of pharmacy businesses permitted.
